	Abstract:	Robert Johns Bulkley (1880-1965) was a Cleveland, Ohio, lawyer and businessman who served as a United States Congressman (1910-1914) and Senator (1930-1939). While in congress he was involved in legislation concerning Prohibition and currency reform. He was president of the Morris Plan Bank of Cleveland (1914-1952). The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, notes, reports, certificates, personal and miscellaneous printed items relating to Bulkley's personal, political and business activities.

2	Title:	Frances Payne Bingham Bolton Papers

	Abstract:	Frances Payne Bingham Bolton (1885-1977) was a Republican congresswoman from Ohio's 22nd congressional district. Bolton served on the committees of Indian Affairs (1940) and Foreign Affairs (1941-1968), participating in foreign aid hearings and conducting study trips abroad, including a trip to the Middle East in 1947 and one to Africa in 1955. She served as a congressional delegate to the United Nations Eighth General Assembly, and was involved with the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association and helped organize the Accokee Foundation to protect the Potomac shoreline across from Mount Vernon. Mrs. Bolton had a long-time interest in nursing and nursing education and provided funds to establish the nursing school at Western Reserve University, as well as founding the Payne Fund to assist a variety of educational and other charitable programs. The collection consists of correspondence, reports, publications, clippings, etc. generated during, or pertaining to, Bolton's service in Congress. Included are bills and hearings, roll calls and voting records; Foreign Affairs & Indian Affairs committees papers, correspondence, reports, and geographical, foreign aid, embassy and State Dept. files; reports, memoranda, and printed material relating to the deptartments of State, Defense and Justice, the Post Office, as well as correspondence with the President; background files, diaries, reports, etc. re: Bolton's foreign relations travels, including her 1955 African trip; speeches, publicity files, campaign files & local political issues files; material re: her involvement with national Republican Party organizations; UN Eighth General Assembly materials; correspondence, etc. re: nursing and nursing education, the Accokeek Foundation, Mt. Vernon Ladies' Assn., Bingham Associates Fund, and other institutions she supported; and general correspondence, scrapbooks, etc. The collection primarily pertains to Mrs. Bolton's public life and reflects her political activities, as well as her personal and philanthropic involvement with various organizations.

	Abstract:	George Harrison Bender (1896-1961) was a United States Senator from Ohio (1954-1957). He also served as Ohio state senator (1921-1931), chairman of the Cuyahoga County Republican Central Committee (1938-1954), and U.S Representative (1939-1949, 1951-1954). The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, biographical accounts, newsletters, campaign and election literature, certificates, testimonials, souvenir programs, newspaper clippings, and articles by or about Bender. Includes material on prohibition, police pensions, and civil service laws, among other topics. The correspondence, primarily from constituents, also includes letters from both local and national political figures.

4	Title:	Harvey Family Correspondence

	Abstract:	Jonathan Harvey (1780-1859) was a United States Representative from New Hampshire. In 1833, his second cousin, Moses Harvey, moved with his family from New London, New Hampshire to a farm in Concord Township, Lake County, Ohio (near Painesville), where he served as a county probate judge (1863-1870). Moses' son, Thomas W. Harvey (1794-1870) was a leading Ohio educator and author of grammar books and readers. The collection consists of eight letters (1826-1838) from Jonathan Harvey to Moses Harvey, concerning United States politics and John C. Calhoun; one letter (1833) from Jacob Harvey to Moses Harvey; one letter (1860) from Thomas W. Harvey to Mr. & Mrs. Moses Harvey; and one letter (1825) from Moses Harvey to his wife, Sarah, mentioning a visit from General Lafayette.

	Abstract:	Robert Johns Bulkley (1880-1965) was a pprominent Cleveland, Ohio, banker, businessman, and lawyer who served as a Democratic congressman (1910-1914) and United States Senator (1930-1939) from Ohio. As a member of the Banking and Currency Committee, he helped frame the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. During World War I he served in the legal departments of the General Munitions Board, the War Industries Board, and the U.S. Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corp. Bulkley was a loyal and staunch supporter of progressivism and the New Deal, and advocated the repeal of prohibition. He served as president and chairman of the board of the Morris Plan Bank of Ohio for over 30 years. The collection consists of biographical information on Bulkley, writings by Bulkley, correspondence, notes on correspondence, memoranda, newspaper clippings and releases, and miscellaneous material dealing primarily with the early period of Bulkley's Senate career and the early considerations of him as a candidate for the 1932 Democratic nomination for president. The material also deals with his service as chief legal officer for the General Munitions Board during World War I. Included is a scrapbook for the Hasty Pudding Club and a history of Society Bank, "Three score years and ten."
